A new zine by Valerie Phillips, an American photographer living in London.

Last time I went to Tokyo, I bought a Hello Kitty instax mini at WONDER PHOTO SHOP in Harajuku. It came with a pack of Hello Kitty film and a sticker. While waiting for my flight back to London at Haneda Airport, I decided to buy as many Hello Kitty films as I could with all the Japanese yen I had left at the souvenir shop near the departure gate. A big bag of Japanese yen coins was exchanged for 10 packs of Hello Kitty film and a Wasabi KitKat.

I met Phoebe in January 2022. She contacted me on Instagram. She was 17 years old at the time. She was a singer-songwriter student living on the outskirts of South London. I spent 9 months taking photos of her before she started university. It would take too long to tell what happened there, so I will talk about it in a book I plan to publish in 2024. Hello Phoebe is the introduction to that.

One day we finally ran out of Hello Kitty film, but it was impossible to get the same film in London. We wanted to finish the zine, so we bought a few packs of film with a cool name "Mermaid Tail" instead.
